Ray Lake Dam

Dams

Ray Lake dam is on the Wind River Reservation between Lander and Fort Washakie.  The project consisted of complete replacement of the outlet structure.  The existing structure was no longer capable of allowing the lake to be completely filled, which directly impacts the amount of irrigation water available for the reservation.  The new structure was concrete encased 48″ steel pipe with a hydraulic gate on the inlet side and a mechanical gate in the tower.  The majority of the riprap on the inlet side of the dam had to be removed and replaced.  HCC used a local source for part of the dam and rock from our Atlantic City Iron Ore mine for the rest.
